The Elmira Maple Syrup Festival builds and strengthens community spirit through the involvement of a large number of area residents in the planning and operation of a one day festival. Participation in a fun filled day supported by 2000+ volunteers raises funds to support local charities and not for profit organizations. Since 1965, the Festival continues to promote our community and local maple syrup producers.
Since its inception, all proceeds from the Festival are returned to the community, to both charitable and not for profit organizations. In 2001, the Festival was the proud recipient of the Outstanding Philanthropic Action award from the Foundation for Rural Living. At the completion of the 2015 Festival, the total monies raised for these community groups surpassed the 1.6 million dollar mark. Traditionally, 40 percent of the proceeds are allocated annually to Elmira District Community Living with the remaining amounts supporting other local charitable and not for profit organizations.
